In a hospital institution, problems may arise in the equipment to cause of electromagnetic interference, a factor that can not be It has evidence that helps determine its existence. The equipment of medical assistance such as vital signs monitors and ventilators, are affected by non-ionizing radiation, that is electromagnetic waves and can be altered by common communication devices such as cell phones and radiotelephones, when receiving calls and the activation thereof respectively. By For this reason, it is important to have the levels established in the standard of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), since medical equipment and devices must operate in a suitable environment to prevent these interferences from altering the functioning of the same, and therefore generate a risk in the patient. In this document, there is a protocol for measuring the intensity of existing electromagnetic field in ICU cubicles in Fundación Valle de Lili, in the presence of communication devices, in order to observe if exceed the values established in the IEC 60601-1-2: 2001 standard and know the minimum distances in which there is exceeding the EMC levels for critical equipment and non-critical equipment. For this, a stratified sampling was carried out in four floors of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), taking into account the cubicles that were provided with WIFI sources nearby and what they are around thereof. The proposed measurement model is described to be applied in a sample obtained. Based on the above, an analysis of the associated risks was carried out and determined a risk mitigation plan in order to minimize the impact produced by the CEM in the biomedical equipment
